Director's Statement: Lina Larson
This film began as a simple question shared between the three of us, something we had all experienced in our own families. We wrote the script in one day and filmed it the next to capture the immediacy of that feeling.
At its core, the film explores how sibling dynamics shift as we grow into adulthood, particularly in relation to our parents. Through a small confrontation, deeper tensions begin to surface, revealing the complicated mix of love, frustration, humor, and loyalty that exists within many families.
Writer's Statement: Bobby Chrissy
Inspired by old family letters and current family disunity, I wanted to tell the story of siblings fighting over the best way to manage their parents' overbearing expectations. With this short, I hope to reveal the complicated process of setting boundaries with parents, especially when that means disrupting tradition in order to shift the family dynamic.
Actor's Statement: Alexandria Lior
For me this film explores the quiet burden of being the “perfect” child, the lifelong peacemaker who rarely gets the freedom to fail. She watches as her brother moves through the world with the liberty to be fully himself, even when it comes at the expense of the family. The story looks at the complexity of sibling relationships and how two people raised under the same roof can walk away with entirely different experiences of the same childhood. That tension between perception, memory, understanding, and love is what inspired me to bring this story to life.
